Liverpool's Ibrahima Konate suffered an injury

Liverpool manager Arne Slot offered an update on Ibrahima Konate's injury during their clash against Brighton & Hove Albion. They beat the Seagulls 2-1 at Anfield in the Premier League on Saturday, November 2.

The Reds' start to the game didn’t go as planned, with Brighton dominating early on and taking the lead in the 14th minute through Ferdi Kadioglu’s strike. Slot’s halftime team talk seemed to spark a change, as Liverpool’s performance improved in the second half. In the 69th minute, Cody Gakpo’s cross evaded everyone, including the goalkeeper, to bring the hosts level.

Buoyed by the home crowd at Anfield, Liverpool took the lead just three minutes later, with Mohamed Salah scoring his seventh Premier League goal of the season.

However, Slot has reason for concern, as Konate was substituted at halftime after appearing to injure his arm. Replays showed that Virgil van Dijk accidentally stepped on Konate’s hand after he fell to the ground. The Frenchman was visibly in pain as he left the pitch, with Joe Gomez taking his place in the second half.

Slot later provided an update, suggesting the injury may not be as serious as initially feared.

“A lot of pain at halftime, disappointment he had to go off. “Konate? Don’t know yet, not been to the hospital yet. He may not even have to go yet, it’s always too early to say just after the game," he said (via Si.com)

Konate has indeed been a key player this season, featuring in all Premier League and Champions League matches. For now, both Joe Gomez and Jarell Quansah are available as backups for Konate, which will be crucial considering the busy schedule ahead.

Liverpool boss Arne Slot explains the reason behind improved second half performance

It’s fair to say Liverpool lacked an edge in the first half, with Brighton arguably the superior team. They took a well-deserved lead that put Liverpool on the back foot.

However, Slot’s halftime team talk and his substitutions around the hour mark - bringing on Luis Diaz and Curtis Jones - brought renewed energy to the field. They were rewarded with two goals in three minutes, but Slot believes the improvement was due to better positioning by his side. After the game, he explained the difference between his side's performance in the second half.

“Our attackers scored the goals but the main difference was we were better positioned and we had the ball a lot more. Without the ball they made problems for us but in the second half we just kept running," Slot said (via BBC)

The Reds are on an impressive streak, currently unbeaten in their last 11 games across all competitions. They will look to extend this form, especially with both Arsenal and Manchester City dropping points this evening.
