Manchester United hero Wayne Rooney's wife Coleen revealed what US President-elect Donald Trump said to her, leading to Arsenal legend Ian Wright calling him a "freak". In 2018, during Donald Trump's first presidency, Rooney and his family moved to the US, where he joined up with DC United in the MLS.

While stateside, they were invited to a Christmas event at the White House, with Wayne Rooney, Coleen Rooney, and their children in attendance. However, things took a rather odd turn, with Coleen Rooney opening up about Donald Trump's comments.

In an interview with Stick to Football (via Mirror), Coleen revealed to former players Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher, Roy Keane, Ian Wright, and Jill Scott:

“Well, my dad, he didn’t like what he [Trump] said. So, when I came in, he said to his son, ‘See, I told you all the soccer players get the good-looking girls’. When I’ve come out, I’ve told my mum, she was like ‘Ergh’.”

In response to this, Arsenal icon Ian Wright referred to the President-elect as a "freak".

Coleen Rooney continued with details of the trip to the White House, adding:

“It was my first meeting with him. It was like, ‘Hello, nice…’ and then that was it. We didn’t spend that much time there. This was like a Christmas thing at the White House. All the workers and stuff. They did something for the family, like a family day."
“We went with the four kids, but I just remember my kids sitting - there were tables and chairs and everything - and they were eating chicken nuggets on the floor under the table! It was a bit of a strange set-up, but it was an experience,” she added.

Wayne Rooney spent just two years in the US with DC United as a player, before returning to England, where the Manchester United legend played for Derby County. He went to the US as DC United manager in 2022, but spent only a year, before returning to England again.

Arsenal and Manchester United prepare for FA Cup clash

Arsenal and Manchester United are set to clash in the FA Cup Third Round at the Emirates Stadium on January 12. Both sides go into the game with differing viewpoints.

While Arsenal are chasing the Premier League title, and are favorites to clinch a trophy this season, Manchester United are struggling in the league mid-table. The Gunners are currently second in the Premier League, while the Red Devils sit in 13th.

When both sides met earlier in the season (December 4), Manchester United endured a 2-0 loss to Arsenal. Indeed, the Red Devils have not beaten the Gunners since September 2022, when they clinched a 3-1 win at Old Trafford.
