Parlour apologized for his tasteless tribute to fellow Arsenal legend

Arsenal legend Ray Parlour has issued an apology for his 'insensitive' tribute to former teammate and friend Kevin Campbell after the latter passed away. The former Gunners striker died this week at 54 years of age after a short illness.

Campbell was a legend at his boyhood club Arsenal, winning the FA Cup and the League Cup for them. He scored 55 goals and laid 20 assists in 210 appearances for the north London side. He then went on to have a successful stint with Everton, scoring 50 and assisting eight goals in 160 games and establishing himself as a fan favorite.

Following the news of his passing, tributes poured in from across the football world. Former teammate Ray Parlour first took to social media to share his condolences, posting on X:

"Devastated hearing the news this morning RIP Kevin. Great player and even nicer Fella. Thoughts with his family at this tough time."

The Gunners legend however took it too far, later posting a now-deleted video of himself drinking a mix of Jaggermeister and beer as a toast to Kevin Campbell. After noticeable criticism from fans and users on the social network, he took the video down and posted an apology, saying:

"I apologize if I have upset anyone in my last post. I wholeheartedly didn't mean to come across as insensitive. I loved Kevin and I'm honestly devastated for his family and friends at this terrible time. I'm sending all my love to them and anyone who came across this amazing man."

Campbell leaves behind a positive legacy and many devastated friends and family.

Arsenal legend Ian Wright sends tribute to Kevin Campbell

Arsenal legend Ian Wright shared his deepest condolences after the death of former Gunners teammate Kevin Campbell. The pair represented the north London side together from 1991 to 1995.

Wright shared his feelings on iTV ahead of the Spain vs Croatia Euro 2024 encounter on Saturday, June 15, saying:

"I can't really go too deep into it. It's very fresh. I only heard this morning. Obviously my best wishes and condolences go to his family but it's too soon for me to talk about it. Anytime I start to talk about it I well up. He meant the whole world to a lot of people, especially myself."

Wright and Campbell shared the pitch in 126 matches across competitions, combining for 18 goals.
