Arsenal legend Martin Keown has insisted that Liverpool will beat the Gunners to lift the 2024-25 Premier League title due to two of their first-team players.
The Reds, who finished seven points behind Mikel Arteta's side last season, are currently atop the Premier League table. The Anfield club are on 45 points from 18 matches, having lost just one league game so far in the ongoing season.
Ahead of Arsenal's 3-1 Premier League away win at Brentford earlier on Wednesday (January 1), Keown shared his honest thoughts on the Premier League title race. He said (h/t Metro):
"We want Arsenal to finally win the league – but it looks like Liverpool are going to do that. I was disappointed Chelsea fell away in the last two games. A three-horse race makes it better. But the quality of [Luis] Diaz, [Cody] Gakpo up top, Arsenal need to find a little bit more up top."
Opining on the Gunners' recent win over Brentford, Keown elaborated:
"They picked up the intensity, that's a strong signal from this team. They're alive and kicking, still in this race. At half time, the manager would have had a few words. They showed good character and personality and in the second half, showed their class. They really stamped on their opponent with two quick goals, it's emphatic. That sends a message that they're still in this title race."
Keown, who helped his former club lift three league titles, concluded:
"That's the first of nine games in January. League Cup, FA Cup, you name it, they're in every competition. It keeps the pot boiling now. It puts pressure on Liverpool, over to you. It sends a little message that they're still in this race."
The Gunners are in second spot with 39 points from 19 league matches.
Arsenal, Liverpool in race for 25-year-old star
According to Caught Offside, Eintracht Frankfurt are attempting to tie Omar Marmoush down to a new deal following his excellent start to the season. However, the Egyptian striker has not responded positively to recent contract negotiations.
As a result, a number of Premier League clubs are currently on alert. Arsenal have contacted Marmoush's camp in the recent times, while Liverpool and Chelsea are also keeping tabs on the star. Aston Villa and Newcastle United are also thought to be interested in signing the ex-VfL Wolfsburg attacker.
So far this season, the 25-year-old Egypt international has registered 18 goals and 12 assists in 24 appearances across competitions for Eintracht Frankfurt.
