Manchester United legend Roy Keane has claimed that it is impossible to call the title race this time around with Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City involved in a three-horse race.
Following Liverpool's 1-1 draw against Manchester City on Sunday, March 10, only one point separates the three sides after 28 matches. Mikel Arteta's side are now top of the table on goal difference with Jurgen Klopp's side finding themselves second. The two sides have just a one-point advantage over third-placed Manchester City, who have 63 points.
Keane has claimed that he was certain that Manchester City would pip Arsenal for the title last season and that was exactly how the title race unfolded in the end. The Irishman has now claimed that the Gunners have improved a lot physically and psychologically since then.
Assessing the three teams, Keane said on Sky Sports, as quoted by Caught Offside:
“I can’t call it. Last year, I never had any doubt that Man City would win the title. I was strong on City a few weeks ago but I’m doubting that a little bit. Whenever you watch Liverpool, they’re performing, creating chances and scoring goals. I look at Arsenal and think physically they’re a much stronger team compared to last year. I don’t think they’ll fade on that side of it.”
Manchester City have won five of the last six titles on offer, while Liverpool won the other (2019-20). Arsenal, meanwhile, haven't won the trophy since the 2003-04 season.
Arsenal star reacts after Liverpool and Manchester City settle for a 1-1 draw
Arsenal midfielder Jorginho reacted on X (formerly Twitter) following Liverpool's 1-1 draw against Manchester City. The Gunners are now top of the table, leading the Reds by a +7 goal difference, and have their destiny in their own hands.
Right after the final whistle, Jorginho took to X (formerly Twitter) and celebrated the draw. He tweeted:
"VAMOS!! Let’s keep pushing 💪🏻💪🏻"
John Stones gave Manchester City a 1-0 lead in the 23rd minute from a nicely-worked corner before Alexis Mac Allister equalized from the spot in the second half. The Cityzens next task in the league is a home game against the Gunners on March 31.
Liverpool's next Premier League encounter will come on the same day when they host Brighton & Hove Albion in Merseyside.
