According to a report by CaughtOffside (via Football365), Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Charles De Ketelaere. Both clubs are keenly monitoring the 23-year-old Belgian, but the Gunners have shown more interest and are leading the race to sign the Atalanta forward.
De Ketelaere initially joined Atalanta on loan from AC Milan last season. He joined the Rossoneri in 2022 from Belgian outfit Club Brugge but struggled to make an impact at the club, contributing just one assist in 39 appearances across competitions.
His poor returns facilitated a loan with an option to buy to Atalanta a season after signing for AC Milan. However, the Belgian forward went on to prove his qualities, as he produced 14 goals and 11 assists in 50 games for the Bergamo-based club.
His impressive returns made the club activate the clause in his contract, signing him permanently. De Ketelaere has had a slow start to the current campaign, managing just a goal and an assist in 10 outings so far.
Nevertheless, he is attracting interest from clubs in the English top-flight including Arsenal and Tottenham. As per the report, the Gunners are monitoring De Ketelaere as coach Mikel Arteta is a huge fan of the Atalanta star.
While Arsenal have emerged as the leading favorites for his services, they are yet to make an official inquiry about the 23-year-old. As per the report, the Premier League side is still considering whether to make a move for De Ketelaere in the upcoming transfer windows.
Aside from Tottenham, Arsenal could also face competition from Manchester City, Newcastle and West Ham United, who have all been linked to the Belgium international.
