Arsenal and Manchester City have been informed that Wolves star Pedro Neto will reportedly cost in the region of £60 million to sign this summer. The Premier League club will only entertain a club-record bid for their Portuguese star despite his injury troubles this season.
In the last two years, Portugal international Neto has established himself as a quality performer for Wolves and has been on the radars of multiple clubs. Arsenal rate him very highly, but his less-than-ideal injury record has prevented any sides from making a move for him.
This season, Wolves have shown their ability to make the most out of what they have, finishing well clear of the relegation zone despite a major summer exodus. They lost Raul Jimenez, Ruben Neves, Conor Coady, Nathan Collin, and Matheus Nunes, and are prepared to sanction a move for Pedro Neto now, as well.
Arsenal are long-time admirers of Neto, who is viewed by manager Mikel Arteta as the perfect competition for Bukayo Saka, who struggled with his workload. The 24-year-old Portuguese winger finished the Premier League season with two goals and nine assists in only 20 appearances.
The Gunners will have to battle rivals Manchester City for the signature of the diminutive winger, as they have also indicated an interest in him. With Bernardo Silva seemingly on his way out of the club this summer, they may look to replace him with Neto.
Wolves are aware of all the interest Neto is generating and will let him go for around £60 million, as per The Telegraph. This would make him the most expensive sale in their history, surpassing the £53 million City paid for Nunes last summer.
Newcastle United are also interested in the Portuguese forward, who returned to action on the final day of the season. They are, however, less keen due to his injury record.
Dutch striker indicates interest in 'dream' Arsenal switch
Ajax striker Brian Brobbey has revealed that he will be interested in joining Arsenal during an interview in the Netherlands. Speaking with Dutch outlet NOS Jeugdjournaal, the striker responded to a question about his dream transfer by naming the Gunners.
“Arsenal. I think that is a very nice club."
The Gunners are openly out to sign a new striker this summer, with several names on their list. Brobbey had an impressive personal season despite Ajax's struggles, scoring 22 goals and providing 12 assists in 43 appearances.
The 22-year-old will look to impress the Gunners and their recruitment team when he features for the Netherlands at Euro 2024 next month. The striker is among the most highly rated in Dutch football and may end up in the Premier League soon.
