In the upcoming January transfer window, a fierce battle is set to unfold between two English football giants, Arsenal and Liverpool, for highly coveted Wolves star Pedro Neto. However, as per the UK Express, the Reds may have an advantage in the race as they hunt for a successor to their talismanic figure, Mohamed Salah.
Pedro Neto, the Portuguese forward, has taken the Premier League by storm this season, emerging as one of the most impressive players on the pitch. His performances have not gone unnoticed by some of the country's biggest clubs, with Arsenal and Liverpool leading the charge to secure his services.
Liverpool are contemplating hijacking Arsenal's pursuit of Neto, especially after the Gunners reignited their interest in Wolves' standout player. This renewed interest follows allegations that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta overplayed young English sensation Bukayo Saka. He was recently forced to miss a crucial 1-0 victory over Manchester City due to injury.
Neto, admired for his versatility and ability to fill multiple positions, has been seen as a perfect alternative to Saka. The Reds, too, are impressed with Neto and have identified him as a potential successor to Salah, whom they previously resisted selling to Saudi Arabia in the summer.
Jurgen Klopp's side boasts an impressive array of attacking talent, including Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz, and Cody Gakpo. However, none of these players specialize as right-wingers. If Salah departs, the Reds could be forced into the transfer market, with Neto emerging as a top candidate.
The dilemma for Arsenal is that Liverpool's need for Neto may outweigh their own. If Salah departs, the Reds would be more willing to meet Wolves' valuation for the 23-year-old, viewing him as a direct Salah replacement rather than an option for Saka's rotation at the Emirates. The player's personal preference might also sway towards the Reds, especially if Klopp offers him a more substantial role in the team.
Ryan Gravenberch credits Jurgen Klopp for Liverpool move and sets sights on starting role
Dutch midfielder Ryan Gravenberch has revealed that Jurgen Klopp played a pivotal role in his decision to join Liverpool this summer. Gravenberch, who signed with the Reds on Deadline Day for a reported £34.2 million from Bayern Munich, expressed his gratitude to Klopp for his warm welcome.
He said via Fabrizio Romano:
"Klopp was key for me to join Liverpool. He gave me his plans and explained everything, giving me such a good feeling that my decision was the first one."
Despite starting as a backup, Gravenberch has made a strong impression in his first seven appearances, notching one goal and two assists. The 21-year-old is determined to earn a starting position in Klopp's lineup as he adapts to life at Anfield.
