Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has his eyes on the Premier League

Arsenal are putting together final preparations ahead of their Premier League tie against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday, August 31, at the Emirates. Mikel Arteta will be determined to pick up all three points to make it three wins in three games this season.

Meanwhile, the Gunners are interested in Newcastle United forward Anthony Gordon. Elsewhere, the north London side want Bournemouth custodian Neto to take Aaron Ramsdale's place at the Emirates.

On that note, let's look at the major Arsenal transfer news from August 30, 2024.

Arsenal have set their sights on Anthony Gordon, according to The Daily Mail. However, the report adds that a move might only be possible next summer. The Gunners have been on an upward trajectory under Mikel Arteta's able guidance in recent seasons. The Spanish manager has made some smart signings in recent windows and now has an enviable ensemble at his disposal.

However, Arteta is likely to be open to further reinforcements as he aims to close the gap with top teams in Europe. The north London side have been heavily reliant on Bukayo Saka to make things happen in the final third.

Arteta has now identified Gordon as a candidate to improve their attack, but a move is almost impossible before Friday's deadline. The Englishman is happy at Newcastle United and is not looking to leave.

Gunners want Neto to replace Aaron Ramsdale

Arsenal have identified Neto as a possible replacement for the outgoing Aaron Ramsdale, according to Sky Sports. The English goalkeeper is apparently closing in on a move to Southampton this summer, according to the BBC.

Ramsdale dropped down the pecking order at the Emirates last season following the arrival of David Raya on loan from Brentford. With the Spaniard signing permanently for the Gunners this summer, the Englishman was likely to struggle for game time.

He has now decided to move on in search of regular football and Mikel Arteta has identified Neto as his replacement. The 35-year-old is under contract with Bournemouth until 2026, and the two clubs are locked in talks regarding a move before the transfer window closes.

The report adds that the north London side also have their eyes on Espanyol custodian Joan Garcia and both players could arrive at the Emirates on Friday.

Former player wants Ivan Toney at the Emirates

Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit has advised the club to bring in a proven goalscorer. The Gunners were expected to sign a new No. 9 this summer but a move has failed to materialise so far.

Toney has been named as an option for a while, as he is likely to leave Brentford. The 28-year-old has entered the final year of his contract with the Bees and has decided not to sign a new deal.

Speaking to Gamblingzone, Petit insisted that Toney could help the north London side in their quest for the Premier League title.

“Arsenal need a 20-goals-per-season striker, they currently have a few players who can score 10-15 goals per season, like how Man City used to be. Mikel Arteta will follow the steps of Guardiola, the way their teams play and a striker would be a cherry on top of the cake," said Petit.

He continued:

“I think Nico Williams or someone like Ivan Toney could replicate Haaland’s output at Arsenal. Toney has a great relationship with Bryan Mbeumo, understanding the timing and movements of your teammates is something important for Arsenal and I think he could be the man that spearheads them to the title – a late move could do them wonders.”

Toney has scored 72 goals and set up 23 more from 141 games across competitions for Brentford to date.
