Former Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas has heaped praise on Mikel Arteta for his work at the Gunners. He believes that the Spaniard is a great coach and has done a wonderful job at the Emirates.

Speaking at the Festival dello Sport event in Trento, Fabregas stated that the project in place at Arsenal is similar to his at Serie A side Como. He wants to follow the same path as Arteta and said (via Football Italia):

“Arteta is a great coach and will become even better. He is doing a wonderful job at Arsenal and he takes the same path that we want to follow: stability, with a real project in place. I am fortunate to be in a solid club and my dream is to take Como as far as possible. I see myself being here for many more years.”

Cesc Fabregas was appointed as the manager of Como after they were promoted to Serie A. The Gunners legend has not made the best of starts but has managed two wins and as many draws in their opening seven league matches.

Cesc Fabregas heaped big praise on Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta earlier this year

Cesc Fabregas spoke about Mikel Arteta earlier this year and claimed that the Spaniard has done a wonderful job at Arsenal. He stated that the Spaniard had stepped into a big mess and has taken out the toxicity at the club.

Speaking on the Planet Premier League podcast in March, Fabregas said:

"I think it's quite simple. Arsenal was merged into a big mess. I think there was too many people talking. There was a lot of toxicity I would say within the club. It doesn't necessarily need to be in the club, but around the club and he [Arteta] just came in. He had an idea, he had his methodology, style of play, and he put it all together. He had the bravery, even though he's a young coach, to put it all together and to say, right, this is the standards, this is what I want to do."
"I think he keeps repeating those words. In press conferences, he talks about intentions, he talks about character, about running, about standards. This is what he put in place - hardworking people, young people that really want to play for the badge, want to be there for the club, want to make the club grow. He took away all this toxicity around the club that was hurting the players, was hurting the managers and he's doing really well."

The Gunners won the FA Cup under Mikel Arteta in 2020 but have not managed to win any other silverware since. Arsenal have, however, finished second in the Premier League in the last two seasons.
