Former Real Madrid manager Fabio Capello has issued a stern warning to Kylian Mbappe about how he should handle himself at the club. The World Cup-winning forward joined the Spanish club this summer on a free transfer after a protracted saga from Paris Saint-Germaine on a deal that runs till 2029.
Capello is no stranger to life at the Santiago Bernabeu and had two stints in charge of the Madrid-based club between 1996-97 and 2006-07. He guided Los Blancos to LaLiga glory in each stint and is familiar with the revolving cast of superstars at the club.
In an interview, the 78-year-old gave the 25-year-old a warning about how he should conduct himself at the club, saying (via Mundo Deportivo):
"When a big star reaches Real, he has to understand that he has to work like any other player. Because at that club, there is not one star but many."
Kylian Mbappe joined Real Madrid after a fruitful spell with PSG that saw him leave as their all-time highest goalscorer with 256 goals and 108 assists in 308 games. He has had a fine start to life in the Spanish capital, bagging seven goals and one assist from his first 11 games for the reigning European champions.
"He’s a simple and humble person" - Real Madrid star backs Kylian Mbappe to do well
Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga believes French superstar Kylian Mbappe will do well at the club following his arrival. The World Cup-winner's club teammate and compatriot backed the 25-year-old forward to build on his fine form and 'make waves'.
Mbappe is a vital player for his nation and helped them to the World Cup finals in consecutive finals with his impressive performances for Les Bleus. Camavinga believes he can do the same for the club thanks to his humility, telling Mundo Deportivo:
“Everything is going well for him in Madrid. He speaks Spanish well, which made his arrival easier. He’s a simple and humble person. He’s acclimatized to the dressing room quickly, everyone likes him. He’s making waves in Spain. He has scored a lot of goals and I think he will continue like this.”
Kylian Mbappe and Real Madrid resume their bid to retain their LaLiga crown after the international break when they visit Celta Vigo on October 19.
