Ballon d'Or 2024: Rankings for Kopa Trophy, Yachine Trophy and Women's Ballon d'Or revealed

The final rankings for the Kopa Trophy, Yachine Trophy, and Women's Ballon d'Or were revealed at the 2024 Ballon d'Or ceremony held in Paris on Monday (October 28).

2024 Kopa Trophy

The Kopa Trophy, named after former Real Madrid forward and 1958 Ballon d'Or winner Raymond Kopa, is awarded to the best under-21 talent of the season. It was created by France Football in 2018 and has been handed out every year since except in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The winner of the 2024 edition of the award is Barcelona wonderkid Lamine Yamal. The 17-year-old made 57 appearances for club and country last season, racking up eight goals and 13 assists.

He played an integral role in helping Spain win the 2024 European Championship, with his one goal and four assists in seven games, earning him the Young Player of the Tournament title.

Real Madrid attacker Arda Guler, Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo, Manchester City winger Savinho, and Yamal's Barca compatriot Pau Cubarsi rounded out the top five positions in the Kopa Trophy standings.

2024 Yachine Trophy

The Yachine Trophy is named after Russian legend Lev Yashin, who remains the only goalkeeper to date to have won the Ballon d'Or (1963). Since its inception in 2019, the award has been given to the best shot-stopper of the season.

For his scintillating performances for club and country, Emiliano Martinez was named the winner of the 2024 Yachine Trophy. At club level, the 32-year-old helped Aston Villa qualify for the UEFA Champions League for the first time in 31 years, keeping 15 clean sheets in 47 games across all competitions.

With Argentina, he won the 2024 Copa America title, keeping five clean sheets in six games and being named the goalkeeper of the tournament.

Spain's EURO 2024-winning shot-stopper Unai Simon (Athletic Club) and Real Madrid's UCL savior Andriy Lunin rounded out the podium positions for the 2024 Yachine Trophy. Here are the top 10 players as ranked by France Football:

2024 Women's Ballon d'Or

The Women's Ballon d'Or has been awarded every year since 2018 (except 2020), recognizing the best player in women's football in the previous season. Barcelona Femeni's Aitana Bonmati was named the winner of the 2024 edition, making it her second Ballon d'Or title in a row (emulating Alexia Putellas' back-to-back wins in 2021 and 2022).

With forwards Caroline Graham Hansen and Salma Paralluelo completing the top three, all players on the podium were from Barca - a reflection of their dominant campaign in 2023-24. Salma and Aitana also won the inaugural UEFA Women's Nations League with Spain, adding to their glittering resume.
