Raphinha has seemingly poked fun at LaLiga match officials following Barcelona's 1-0 loss to Real Sociedad on Sunday, November 10. Reacting to Robert Lewandowski's disallowed goal, Raphinha posted a hilarious reaction on his Instagram story.
Lewandowski scored in the 13th minute, but the video assistant referee ruled it out for offside. Many fans and pundits believe the VAR's decision was wrong, based on the idea that the referee mistook Nayef Aguerd's foot for that of Lewandowski.
Here's Raphinha's post:
In a post-match interview, Hansi Flick shared the sentiment, saying (via Forbes):
"We started well and we scored, but it was wrongly ruled out. I told the referee that it was a bad decision, that it wasn't Lewandowski's foot. But we have to accept it."
However, ESPN suggested that Lewandowski's toe was indeed offside.
Flick's men remain the league leaders in the 2024-25 LaLiga standings, having registered 33 points from 13 games. They are also six points ahead of second-placed Real Madrid with a game in hand.
The Catalan giants will look to bounce back after the international break, with their next league game scheduled to be played against Celta Vigo.
Hansi Flick gives update on Barcelona youngster Lamine Yamal's injury
Ahead of the game against Real Sociedad, Lamine Yamal picked up an ankle problem and thus missed the game. Yamal’s absence was a big negative for Blaugrana as they struggled to unlock Real Sociedad's defense.
During the post-match press conference, Flick provided an update regarding Yamal's injury. He said (via Fabrizio Romano):
"We tried until the end with Lamine Yamal. We have to take care of Lamine, I don't know how long he will be out, he has problems with his ankle.”
Yamal has had a brilliant start to the 2024-25 campaign. He has scored six goals and registered eight assists in 16 appearances for Barcelona. As such, his potential absence could affect Flick's men in attack.
