Ronald Araujo's contract renewal is no longer a priority for Barcelona as they're getting closer to signing Bayer Leverkusen's Jonathan Tah, as per Spanish outlet Diario AS. Tah's contract will expire in the summer of 2025 and the German defender is expected to join La Blaugrana on a free transfer.
Apart from Hansi Flick's side, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are also interested in signing the 28-year-old. However, Barcelona are the frontrunners in the race to sign the Bayer Leverkusen star.
Ronald Araujo's current contract with the club will expire in the summer of 2026 and the LaLiga giants have been keen to sign a contract extension with the Uruguayan defender. As per the aforementioned report, it's no longer a priority for the club but they haven't completely given up on Araujo's renewal.
However, the 25-year-old would have to take a huge salary cut if he wants to stay at Camp Nou. The Uruguayan defender is yet to play a game for the La Blaugrana this season as he recently recovered from a hamstring injury.
Ronald Araujo joined the LaLiga giants from Uruguayan side Boston River in August 2018. Since then, he has made 150 appearances for the senior team, bagging eight goals and five assists across competitions. Meanwhile, if Jonathan Tah arrives at Camp Nou, Eric Garcia and Andreas Christensen are expected to depart.
Hansi Flick urges Joan Laporta to sell 27-year-old Barcelona star in winter transfer window: Reports
Barcelona boss Hansi Flick is unhappy with Dutch midfielder Frenkie de Jong and has urged club president Joan Laporta to sell the 27-year-old in the winter transfer window, as per El National. The former Ajax midfielder missed the initial matches of the season due to an ankle injury.
Since his return, Frenkie de Jong has made 13 appearances across competitions, scoring and assisting one goal each. He has played only 362 minutes for La Blaugrana and has started only two games. Despite being one of the highest-paid players on the team, the Dutchman has primarily played off the bench for Flick's side.
He has also fallen in the pecking order behind Gavi, Fermin Lopez, Pedri, Dani Olmo, and Marc Casado. As per the aforementioned report, Hansi Flick is unhappy because De Jong is not concerned about his situation and has also exhausted the patience of the coaching staff. As a result, Barcelona are considering selling the former Ajax midfielder soon.
