Barcelona are in line to pocket up to €15 million from the sale of their former player Mika Marmol this summer. According to a report from Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Sevilla are interested in signing the talented center-back, which would result in a financial windfall for the Catalan giants.

Marmol is one of the talented gems who rose through the ranks in Barcelona's youth setup. Unfortunately, he couldn't establish himself in the senior due to immense competition and had to leave to seek game time elsewhere.

The Blaugrana offloaded the defender to Andorra in the summer of 2022 while maintaining a 50 percent right over the player, which they retained even after he joined Las Palmas one year later.

The 22-year-old's impressive performances in La Liga during the recently concluded campaign have brought him to the attention of many clubs. Sevilla are said to be exploring the possibility of luring him to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Las Palmas are demanding that the defender's release clause worth €30 million be triggered to sanction his exit. This would put half of the transfer fee into Barcelona's pocket.

That money would be handy for the club. After experiencing a barren spell and watching Real Madrid dominate last season, the Catalan giants are expected to make some important signings in the transfer market this summer.

Their current financial situation doesn't help matters. However, the €15 million would go some way in putting things in order, especially now that they have a new manager in Hansi Flick, whom they are supposed to be back in the market.

That said, Mika Marmol enjoyed a decent outing this season. He played a whopping 36 out of 38 games in La Liga, recording one assist to his name. It remains to be seen how his situation will develop going forward.

Barcelona expected to make important decisions this summer

The Catalan giants have a couple of vital decisions to make before the transfer window closes this summer. Dealing with the managerial appointment was a step in the right direction - now they need to do the same with certain players.

To start with, Barcelona will need to decide whether to sign their two loanees, Joao Felix and Joao Cancelo permanently. Both players had just a decent loan spell at the club last season and there's a small question mark as to whether their services should be retained.

They also need to be definite about the continuity of players like Frenkie de Jong and Raphinha who have both been linked with exits in recent months. They still have some time to be decisive. It remains to be seen what they'll do about the aforementioned players.
