Barcelona have reportedly set their asking price for teenage striker Vitor Roque. According to Spanish outlet Sport, La Blaugrana are seeking a fee in excess of €40 million for the Brazilian.
The 19-year-old was linked with a move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal, with the aforementioned outlet suggesting that they had made an offer worth around €30 million. However, the Catalan giants are looking for an improved deal.
Roque, hailed as one of the top attacking prospects, joined Barcelona from Athletico Paranaense in January for €30 million plus €31 million in add-ons. However, he struggled to find game time under Xavi and has now been linked with an exit from the Camp Nou. He made 16 appearances out of which only two were starts, totalling just 353 minutes of action in which he bagged two goals.
Al-Hilal were originally seeking a loan deal for the player, however, La Blaugrana feel that the player might lose his value during a temporary move. Thus, they are willing to let him go only on a permanent basis.
An influx of €40 million or more could prove to be huge for a Barcelona side who are in the midst of deep financial trouble. The amount could be useful as they pursue Athletic Club's Nico Williams and RB Leipzig's Dani Olmo.
Manchester City enter race for Barcelona midfield target: Reports
Manchester City have reportedly entered the race to sign RB Leipzig star Dani Olmo. According to Footmercato, Pep Guardiola's side are set to battle Barcelona for the 26-year-old.
This comes after a report from Mundo Deportivo claimed that the Catalan giants have already had an approach rejected. After Olmo's €60 million release clause expired recently, La Blaugrana made an offer of €40 million plus €20 million in instalments.
Leipzig are believed to be looking for the full amount upfront, a condition Barcelona might struggle to meet amidst their financial struggles. However, Manchester City would not face any such issues. The club's representatives are reportedly set to meet with the player's team in the hopes of a move to the Etihad.
Olmo was sensational for Spain in Euro 2024. Taking up a starting role after Pedri's injury in the quarter-finals against Germany, he finished with three goals and two assists as La Roja lifted the trophy. He made 25 appearances last season for Leipzig, bagging eight goals and five assists.
