Barcelona are reportedly preparing their final offer for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, whom they wish to purchase from Serie A side Napoli according to SPORT (via Barca News Network.) The 23-year-old is rated at €80 million, and he has expressed the desire to join Barca over Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
The latter decision was made by the Georgian forward as he believes he can win more titles at the Catalan giants than at PSG. Kvaratskhelia will be an important addition to the Barcelona front line. He has been in fine fettle this season, finding the back of the net on five occasions in the 12 matches he has played in the Serie A.
Kvaratskhelia has thrived in Naples under former Chelsea manager Antonio Conte, who has often encouraged him to cut back inside from the left-winger's position. He has also been given the freedom to explore his options with passing and crossing. As a result, Kvaratskhelia has two assists to his name in Serie A.
Relations between Kvaratskhelia and Napoli are tense currently, and this could help Barcelona bag him and get the Italians to lower his release clause. At the moment, Napoli are willing to meet Kvaratskhelia's demands of €6m a year in wages if he agrees to increase his release clause to €150m.
The Georgian, however, is not keen on adhering to these terms and believes that he has to make the next move in his career. Spain has been one of the countries he wants to test next, and a good offer from La Blaugrana can certainly tempt him and his representatives.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia will have to compete with Ansu Fati and Ferran Torres at Barcelona
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia will have to compete with the likes of Ansu Fati and Ferran Torres if he decides to move to the Catalan club. Both these players are left-wingers, as is Kvaratskhelia. However, the latter can also be fluid and play on the right wing or up front as the sole centre-forward or false number nine.
Torres and Fati, who are both injured at the moment, have scored a total of just one goal between them for Barcelona in La Liga this season. La Blaugrana, however, have not had to worry too much as they are perched right on top of the league standings at the moment with 33 points.
