Barcelona set to compete with Real Madrid to sign 24-year-old Bundesliga star: Reports
Barcelona have joined Real Madrid in the race to sign Bayern Munich defender Alphonso Davies, as per Spanish outlet MARCA. Los Blancos are the long-term admirers of the 24-year-old left-back. The LaLiga giants see him as an upgrade on Ferland Mendy and Fran Garcia.
However, Barcelona have been keen to sign the Canadian defender over the last few months. Alphonso Davies' contract with the Bundesliga giants will expire next summer. In the last six months of the contract, the 24-year-old will be eligible to sign a pre-contract agreement with another club.
Multiple reports have said Bayern Munich had convinced Alphonso Davies for a contract extension. However, the club or the player have not confirmed or denied this.
Real Madrid were also linked with AC Milan's Theo Hernandez. The Frenchman played for Los Blancos before joining the Serie A giants in 2019. In addition to the two LaLiga giants, Ruben Amorim's Manchester United are also interested in signing the Canadian full-back.
