Barcelona take on Real Madrid in the Supercopa Espana final on Sunday.

Barcelona midfielder Pedri has dismissed reports that the club's Spanish players won't turn up for international football if attacker Dani Olmo isn't registered. The Blaugrana's well-documented financial woes have complicated Olmo's registration.

The former RB Leipzig man, who arrived at the Camp Nou last summer, and Pau Victor were initially ruled out for the season, as Barca failed to register them before the deadline.

However, in a reprieve by the National Sports Councl (CAD), the pair has been provisionally cleared to feature for the club. There were reports that Barca's Spanish players would shun international duty if Olmo doesn't play, but Pedri has dismissed that (as per GOAL):

"They (Olmo and Victor) were in a difficult position. I have tried to console Dani Olmo because making a trip to Saudi Arabia (for the Supercopa de Espana) without knowing if you are going to be able to play is complicated."
"I'm not going to say that I'm not going to be with the national team because of Dani Olmo. It's a lie that I hope no one has believed."

Barca beat Athletic Bilbao 2-0 in the Supercopa Espana semi-final to book a final date and a rematch with holders Real Madrid on Sunday (January 12). The Blaugrana are looking for their first title of the season and Madrid their third.

Barcelona and Real Madrid renew acquaintances in the Supercopa Espana final in the season's second El Clasico. Hansi Flick's men won the first 4-0 at the home of their arch-rivals in La Liga in October.

However, before that, Carlo Ancelotti's side had won four straight El Clasicos, including a 4-1 win in last year's Supercopa final. A year before that, though, Barca had beaten Los Blancos 3-1 in the 2023 title match.

Flick's side are the most successful one in Supercopa Espana history with 14 titles, which Los Blancos will look to emulate by winning on Sunday. The holders are coming off a 3-0 win over Mallorca in the semi-final, with all three goals coming in the second half, with one of them being an own goal.
