Barcelona finished second behind Real Madrid last season and immediately parted ways with Xavi. Hansi Flick was appointed the Spaniard's replacement at the end of May.
Meanwhile, the Catalan giants have announced the arrival of Dani Olop at Camp Nou. Elsewhere, the La Liga outfit are interested in a former Real Madrid full-back.
On that note, let's look at the major Barcelona transfer news from August 10, 2024.
Barcelona sign Dani Olmo
Dani Olmo has completed a move to Camp Nou from RB Leipzig. The Spanish midfielder was in fine form for club and country of late and Barcelona worked hard to re-sign him this summer.
Olmo rose through Barca's ranks but left before his first-team bow. The 26-year-old caught the eye with Leipzig in recent campaigns. Last season, he registered eight goals and five assists from 25 games across competitions for the Bundesliga team.
Olmo also played a key part in Spain's Euro 2024 triumph. The player was identified as a priority target by Flick early this summer and is the Catalans' first summer signing.
Speaking to the club's website, Olmo insisted that returning to Camp Nou is a dream come true.
“I’m very happy, it’s a dream come true, I’m returning home with my family and with my teammates. I’m looking forward to getting started, I’m very proud that Barça has made this effort, that they want me,” said Olmo.
“The objective is to win, we are Barça and we have to compete for everything, we have a team, we have players, we have staff and we are going to go for everything,” he continued.
Manchester City were also linked to the 26-year-old this summer.
Barca eyeing Sergio Reguilon
Barcelona are considering a move for Sergio Reguilon this summer, according to Sky Sports. The Catalans bid adieu to Marcos Alonso this summer and could be in the market for a replacement.
The La Liga giants lack cover for Alejandro Balde in the squad and Reguilon could be a fine option. The Spaniard has entered the final year of his contract with Tottenham Hotspur, who are eager to let him go.
Reguilon spent the first half of last season on loan at Manchester United. The 27-year-old, who was allowed to leave Old Trafford in January, then moved to Brentford on loan for the rest of the campaign.
He is no longer part of Ange Postecoglou's plans and is likely to be offloaded this year. Barcelona are eyeing cost-effective options in the market this summer and Reguilon fits the bill.
However, Hansi Flick has unearthed a gem in Gerrard Martin in pre-season and could be tempted to use the teenager as Balde's backup in the squad. Alex Valle, who spent last season on loan at Levante, could also be an option.
Clement Lenglet set to join Atletico Madrid
Clement Lenglet has reached an agreement to join Atletico Madrid this summer, according to journalist Ruben Uria. The French defender is no longer part of Barcelona's plans and will be allowed to leave this year.
Lenglet spent last season on loan at Aston Villa, registering 25 appearances across competitions. The Catalans are eager to remove the 29-year-old's salary from their wage bill before the end of the transfer window.
Los Rojiblancos were eyeing the Frenchman all summer and have now agreed personal terms ahead of the move. However, Atletico Madrid still have to strike a deal with Barcelona for the move to materialize.
