Gary Neville believes Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim needs to bring back Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho for the Liverpool clash. The two sides will face off at Anfield in the Premier League on Sunday, December 5.

The Red Devils have struggled recently with six defeats in the last eight games, including four in their last four games. Liverpool, meanwhile, have been in sensational form and have just just once across competitions. The Merseysiders are, hence, massive favorites to beat their rivals at Anfield on Sunday.

Ahead of the game, Gary Neville believes Ruben Amorim should recall Rashford and Garnacho the starting XI. He said on Sky Sports (via TBR Football):

“Some players may come back. Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford haven’t been showing the application in training… but they are better than the players out on the pitch currently. They’ve got legs and if Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold are lining up against Zirkzee or Bruno [Fernandes] in wide areas, they would probably prefer that to Garnacho and Rashford.
"That will be difficult for Amorim as he wants to set a new culture and standard in the dressing room of what’s right. He’s not liked some of the things he’s seen in the past month or so but right now, it’s needs-must and it’s desperate."

Amorim left Garnacho and Rashford out of the squad in Manchester United's 2-1 defeat against Manchester City. While Garnacho returned in the next game, the Englishman spent a further three games out of the squad. Rashford also returned to the bench in their 2-0 defeat against Newcastle United last time out but didn't feature.

Gary Neville explains Manchester United's desperation ahead of Liverpool clash

The Red Devils are just seven points above the relegation zone at the halfway mark in the Premier League. They are now preparing to face Liverpool, who have been in tremendous form this season. Manchester United legend Gary Neville shared his fear for Sunday, saying:

“United are only seven points off the relegation zone. They play Liverpool and then Arsenal away so it’s a really tough moment.
"It’s a young manager who has come over and needs time to settle in, but when results are this bad, it piles on the pressure and Anfield is an unforgiving place to go. It’s the worst place at the best of times. The form they’re in is out of this world. I have some fear for Sunday.”

After their trip to Anfield, Manchester United will face Arsenal at the Emirates in the FA Cup third round on January 12.
