YouTuber Bruce Grannec believes Lionel Messi remains better than the top 10 players in the 2024 Ballon d'Or rankings. The Argentine superstar is considered one of the greatest players of all time but missed out on a nomination for the time in two decades.
The World Cup winner has scored 743 goals and provided 357 assists in 912 club games while also bagging 112 goals and 60 assists for Argentina in 189 international caps.
Speaking on Twitch recently, streamer Bruce Grannec said:
"Frankly Messi, he should be there [in the Top 10 of the Ballon d'Or editor's note] every day. He is even better than all the players who are there and I am trolling zero by saying that!"
"You will tell me that I am not objective but I really think it: he is better than all the players present there. I am not joking. Tomorrow you do another World Cup, you will realize it again: he would still be the best player!"
Lionel Messi is in the twilight of his legendary career and currently plays for Inter Miami in the MLS. He has helped the Miami-based franchise win the Leagues Cup and Supporters Shield since joining on a free transfer in 2023.
Lionel Messi's Inter Miami boss makes Ballon d'Or claim
Lionel Messi's Inter Miami manager Tata Martino believes the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner remains the best player on the planet.
The legendary forward continues to perform at a miraculous level despite being late into his 30s. He has bagged 22 goals and 13 assists across 23 games for The Herons and his performances have left Martino certain of the Blaugrana icon's status in the sport.
The Argentine tactician said (via Eurosport):
"It [the Ballon d'Or] has never been something that caught my attention, nor was it clear to me whether the award is for the best in the world or of the year."
"Vinicius probably has the merits to be considered the best player in the world and win the Ballon d'Or, but if I'm asked who the best player in the world is at the moment, I'm going to say, Leo Messi."
Lionel Messi and Inter Miami next face Atlanta United in the MLS Playoffs on November 3 while holding a 2-1 advantage over their opponents. The Argentine star will be keen to help his side secure the playoff title after securing the Supporters Shield.
