Germany's Round of 16 clash against Denmark in Euro 2024 has been suspended due to adverse weather conditions at the Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund. With a storm passing by and lightning strikes close to the stadium, referee Michael Oliver made the decision to bring the affair to a halt.

The two sides played 40 minutes in the fixture that has had pouring rain throughout. Many players have slipped and struggled to find their footing. No information on when the game will be resumed has been put out yet.

Germany started the Euro 2024 clash on a high and thought they had gone ahead inside five minutes when Nico Schlotterbeck headed home from a corner. However, the goal was later ruled out by VAR when it was adjudged that Joshua Kimmich had impeded a defender before the kick was taken.

Florian Wirtz headlines changes as Nagelsmann makes three Germany changes against Denmark for Euro 2024 Round of 16 clash

Germany manager Julian Nagelsmann made the surprise decision to omit Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz in the playing XI for the side's Round of 16 fixture against Denmark. The youngster was among three changes as the former Bayern Munich head coach has opted for a different look for the knockout stages.

The left side of the lineup has changed completely, with Leroy Sane brought on for Wirtz. RB Leipzig defender David Raum replaced Vfb Stuttgart's Maximillian Mittelstadt at left-back as well.

The final change sees Jonathan Tah replaced by Nico Schlotterbeck in the heart of defence. This comes after the 28-year-old received two yellows in the group stage, meaning he was suspended for the fixture.

Sportskeeda can confirm that play will resume soon!
