Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti is reportedly not happy with the performance of Lucas Vazquez and Ferland Mendy in the recent matches, as per Fichajes.net. Playing as a right-back, Vazquez took the place of Dani Carvajal after he suffered a knee injury.
However, the Spaniard has failed to perform up to the expectations, eventually failing to secure a spot in the starting XI of Real Madrid. In La Liga, Vazquez has started only seven matches and on occasions, Ancelotti has deployed Federico Valverde at the right-back position. However, moving Valverde from his preferred midfield position is also not a long-term solution.
Ferland Mendy has played 16 matches across all competitions for Los Blancos but inconsistency has been his problem. As a result, the Italian technician has also given Fran Garcia chances. Moreover, the Frenchman suffered a quadricep injury during Los Blancos' 3-0 win over Girona on Saturday, December 7.
Due to inconsistent performances, the La Liga giants are keen to recruit new fullbacks in the upcoming transfer windows. They have been linked with Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold and Bayern Munich's Alphonso Davies, the contracts of both defenders will expire next summer.
However, due to the injuries of Eder Militao and David Alaba, Los Blancos are forced to sign a new central defender in the winter transfer window.
Real Madrid enter talks to sign 26-year-old Manchester United star: Reports
Carlo Ancelotti's Real Madrid are reportedly interested in signing Dutch defender Lisandro Martinez from Manchester United, as per TBR Football. Los Blancos have been linked with multiple defenders such as Bayer Leverkusen's Jonathan Tah and Arsenal's Gabriel.
However, they also have Manchester United's Lisandro Martinez on their transfer radar as a long-term target. The Dutch defender joined the Old Trafford outfit in July 2022 from Eredivisie giants Ajax for a reported transfer fee of £57 million.
Since joining the Red Devils, Martinez has played 78 matches across all competitions, scoring one and assisting one goal each. His current deal with Ruben Amorim's side will expire in the summer of 2027 but his contract also includes a one-year extension clause.
However, the chances of the Dutchman leaving Manchester United to join the Santiago Bernabeu outfit are unlikely. Real Madrid were also linked with Tottenham Hotspur's Cristian Romero. However, the Spurs are reportedly preparing a new contract for the Argentine defender.
