Carlo Ancelotti has made history with Real Madrid after leading the club to win the 2024 FIFA Intercontinental Cup at the expense of Pachuca on Wednesday, December 18. The European champions ran out comfortable 3-0 winners over the CONCACAF Champions Cup winners from Mexico in Qatar.
Pachuca reached the final of the Intercontinental Cup after defeating CAF Champions League winners Al-Ahly on penalties in the semi-finals. The Mexican side faced Real Madrid but found them to be too strong in the final at the Lusail Stadium in Doha.
While his Real Madrid team won, the real star of the night was manager Carlo Ancelotti, who etched his name in the record books of the European giants. The former AC Milan manager became the most successful manager in the history of the club as he led them to a 15th title.
Ancelotti has had two spells in charge of Los Blancos, the first between 2013 and 2015, and the second from 2021 till now. The Italian tactician surpassed club legend Miguel Munoz, who won 14 titles in his time as manager of the club between 1959 and 1974.

Ancelotti holds the record for being the most successful manager in the UEFA Champions League with five trophies, three of which came with AC Milan.

European champions Real Madrid strolled to a comfortable win over their CONCACAF counterparts Pachuca to claim the FIFA Intercontinental Cup. Los Blancos ran out 3-0 winners as the Mexican side could not keep up with their quality.
On his return to the XI, Kylian Mbappe opened the scoring after 37 minutes, tapping home following excellent work from Vinicius Jr. Los Blancos doubled their advantage in the 53rd minute through Brazilian forward Rodrygo, who fired home an effort after impressive approach play.
Real Madrid rounded off the scoring in the 84th minute through FIFA Men's Player of the Year Vinicius Jr from the penalty spot. The Brazilian found the net from 12 yards after Lucas Vazquez had been upended in the penalty box to seal the win.
