Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has claimed that both Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are big rivals for his side. The three clubs are in strong contention for the LaLiga title this season.
Los Blancos are ranked second in the standings, having secured 40 points from 18 league games. They have won 12, drawn four, and lost two league games so far.
In a recent press conference, Ancelotti was asked who's more of a rival for his side between Barcelona and Atletico Madrid. He said (via Madrid Xtra):
"It's the same. Both of them. Atletico, Barcelona and Real Madrid all have the same chances to fight for La Liga."
Diego Simeone's Atletico Madrid are the league leaders in the standings, having registered 41 points from 18 games. They have won 12, drawn five, and lost only one league game this season.
Meanwhile, Barcelona are ranked third, having secured 38 points from 19 league games. Hansi Flick's men have won 12, drawn two, and lost five league games.
The title race between the three clubs is highly competitive. A little slip from one of the above-mentioned teams could also affect their chances of winning the title.
"David Alaba is close to play games" - Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti
Los Blancos manager has claimed that David Alaba is close to returning from the sidelines. Alaba suffered an anterior cruciate ligament tear last season and he's yet to feature for the club this season. His absence has been felt due to his importance in defense and his versatility to play in multiple defensive positions.
In a press conference ahead of the clash against Valencia, Ancelotti provided an update on Alaba's fitness. He said (via Madrid Xtra):
"David Alaba is close to play games! January 20. We will rotate more now, especially in defense."
Ancelotti also claimed that Alaba's presence would help his side rotate in defense. This could help the defenders to manage fatigue ahead of an engaging second half of the season. Real Madrid will take on Valencia in their next league game on (January 3).
