Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti is certainly facing a defensive crisis at the moment following Eder Militao’s recent injury during the international break. The Italian may reportedly look to Dani Carvajal as a temporary solution, according to Relevo.
Carvajal, who has made over 400 appearances for Los Blancos, has rarely played as a center-back in his career. However, Ancelotti could rely on his experience to partner with Antonio Rudiger when Real Madrid will be on their travels to face Real Sociedad after the international break.
Ancelotti also has the option of using Aurelien Tchouameni or Ferland Mendy in defense, but both players withdrew from the French national team camp - Tchouameni with a foot injury and Mendy with a shin injury sustained during Real Madrid’s win over Real Betis before the break.
David Alaba, meanwhile, is still recovering from an ACL injury and is expected to return only by the end of the year. The Italian manager could also opt to start 19-year-old Jacobo Ramon at the back, but may prefer Carvajal’s experience in the difficult away match against Real Sociedad.
Real Madrid were in the market for a center-back this summer but failed to secure one, as their primary target, Lenny Yoro, ended up joining Manchester United. As a result, Ancelotti has mostly relied on Eder Militao and Antonio Rudiger at the heart of the defense, but with the Brazilian reportedly suffering an injury to his thigh, it could significantly disrupt their plans.
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti expresses satisfaction with the progress of new signings
There was great anticipation when Real Madrid finalized the deal for Kylian Mbappe. The former PSG star joined an already stellar attack featuring Rodrygo, Vinicius Junior, and Jude Bellingham, making Los Blancos strong favorites for the La Liga title.
Also joining Mbappe was 18-year-old Brazilian forward Endrick, who was signed in December 2022. While Mbappe scored twice in their recent clash against Real Betis, Endrick found the back of the net in Real Madrid’s second game against Real Valladolid.
Ancelotti expressed his satisfaction with how both players are settling in and believes that despite a slow start, Real Madrid will soon find their best form.
Our new players Kylian and Endrick are adapting very well, we are very happy. We will have a great season in all competitions, but our duty is to compete in the matches as always, this club never gives up and fights until the end, that’s what you have to do when you wear the Real Madrid shirt," Ancelotti said.
