Fans were surprised after England star Kyle Walker was named in the UEFA EURO 2024's official Team of the Tournament. The Englishman was selected in the lineup ahead of Spain's Dani Carvajal, which did not seem to sit well with fans online.

Walker played every single minute of the Three Lions' run to the final, helping his side keep two clean sheets. While he played an important role in his side's defensive solidity, he failed to register a goal contribution in the seven games.

On the other hand, Carvajal played five games and scored the third goal in Spain's 3-0 victory over Croatia in their opener. His side also overcame Walker's England 2-1 in the final, winning a record fourth European Championship title.

Kyle Walker posted an emotional message for England fans after their 2-1 loss against Spain in the final of EURO 2024 on Sunday (July 14).

Having lost in the final of EURO 2020 to Italy on penalties, the Three Lions had a golden chance to win their first international trophy since their 1966 FIFA World Cup victory. However, they were outclassed by La Roja, prolonging their wait for a major title.

Walker, who played every single minute for Gareth Southgate's side at the tournament, put out a heartfelt post on Instagram after the final. It read:

"This is one which will hurt for a long time. I strongly believed this was our time, but it wasn't to be. Credit to Spain who was an excellent opposition and only one team can win. Thank you to all the back room staff for everything they do. Finally a massive shout out to the fans who travelled and who supported back home. Time to rest up and go again in a few weeks."
