The omens and portents continue to appear dire at Manchester United after the ceiling at Old Trafford started leaking during Ruben Amorim's post-match press conference. The Portuguese tactician was addressing the press after his side's 3-0 defeat at home to Bournemouth.
The Red Devils occupy a position in the bottom half of the top division table (13th) at Christmas for the first time in the Premier League era.
The poor state of the iconic Old Trafford stadium appears to be the latest embarrassment in a campaign that sees the Red Devils closer to the relegation places than the top. Manchester United have six wins, four draws, and seven defeats this season with a -1 goal difference.
On the board level, new minority owners INEOS are undertaking a review of the feasibility of building a new stadium for the Red Devils.
"We tried to score some goals but it was a tough match so let's move on" - Ruben Amorim urges Manchester United to move on from defeat
Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has urged the club to move on from their recent Premier League defeat against Bournemouth. The Red Devils suffered a disappointing 3-0 home loss to the South Coast side on Sunday.
Amorim's side has failed to build on their impressive 2-1 comeback win over Manchester City, falling to consecutive defeats against Tottenham and the Cherries. Speaking about the team's fortunes with the press after the match, the former Sporting boss said (via FotMob):
"This game was hard on us. We suffered again on set-pieces and we were a bit nervous, I felt it in the stadium. The penalty and another goal are really hard here. We tried to score some goals but it was a tough match so let's move on."
"If you look at the game, we were not conceding anything before the first goal, we had opportunities. If we manage to score the first goal then the game should be different. We want to score but we are too nervous. We have to fight this. After the penalty, we need to control the game better because we know this situation is really hard. We have to control better this moment."
The Red Devils boss added:
"We have to focus on the job and not what you feel in the stadium. It's the only way I know how to focus my players. We have to suffer again but we will try to win. We will do it until the end."
Ruben Amprim leads Manchester United to Wolverhampton on Boxing Day before he closes the year at home against Newcastle United. The Portuguese boss will hope he can turn his side's form around and end the year with some decent results.
