Chelsea ace Cole Palmer submits application to trademark iconic shivering celebration as he aims to make millions through product sales: Reports

Chelsea star Cole Palmer is reportedly looking to trademark his iconic shivering goal celebration in a move that could earn him millions through product sales. The 22-year-old's 'Cold' celebration has gained immense popularity, earning him the moniker 'Cold Palmer'.

Palmer first performed the celebration in December 2023 after scoring a brace against Luton Town in the league. He rubs his hands over his arms whenever he scores, mimicking the cold gesture. Palmer revealed that the celebration was inspired by his former Manchester City youth teammate Morgan Rogers.

According to the Sun (via the Mirror), the Chelsea attacking midfielder has now applied to the Government's Intellectual Property Office to have the celebration trademarked. The report adds that the England international included a video of the celebration in his application and wants to use it to sell products such as food, drinks, clothes, and other merchandise.

Cole Palmer has been a huge player for the Blues since joining them last summer in a reported £40 million deal from Manchester City. In his debut season at Stamford Bridge, he notched up 27 goals and 15 assists in 48 games across competitions. He also won the club's Player of the Year and was named the PFA's Young Player of the Year.

The youngster has picked up from where he left off, contributing 11 goals and six assists in 15 league games this term. Palmer will not be the first footballer to trademark a goal celebration, with the likes of Gareth Bale, Kylian Mbappe and Marcus Rashford doing the same in the past.

Former Chelsea defender William Gallas has opined that Cole Palmer can become the best player in Europe once he replicates his club form with the England national team.

Speaking recently to Prime Casino after the Blues' 4-3 win over London rivals Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, December 8, Gallas said (via GOAL):

"Cole Palmer can be the best player in Europe but I don’t want to hail him as the best player in the game until he does what he has done for Chelsea with England. But he has already put in so many great performances for Chelsea and looks like he doesn’t feel any pressure at all, he is so cool. The two penalties summed him up, Enzo Maresca has given him so much freedom and allowed him to play exactly where is best for him which has worked so well."

Palmer made his international debut with the Three Lions in November 2023. He was a part of the England squad that finished as runners-up in the 2024 European Championship. He notably came off the bench to score England's equalizer in the final against Spain which they eventually lost 2-1.
