Chelsea legend John Terry praised Declan Rice for his performance in Arsenal's 2-0 win over Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday (December 04). The Gunners put out a comprehensive display in the second half of this tie after an underwhelming first half.

Jurrien Timber opened the scoring in the 54th minute from Rice's corner, after which William Saliba doubled his team's lead in the 73rd minute. Following the game's conclusion, the aforementioned England international was given the Player of the Match award.

Posing with the prize, the former West Ham United midfielder took to Instagram and wrote:

"Keep doubting."

Reacting to this post, Terry left a comment that read:

"Superb mate"

Rice has become an integral part of Arsenal's attacking force after he was deployed in a box-to-box midfield role last season. Moreover, he stands over free-kick situations and corners from the left flank.

So far this campaign, the 25-year-old has made 17 appearances across competitions, bagging a goal and four assists. Rice's performances have helped the Gunners close the gap between themselves and leaders Liverpool to seven points in the Premier League table.

He will be expected to partner Martin Odegaard in the attacking midfield space when the north Londoners travel to Fulham on Sunday (December 08).

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has highlighted the importance of scoring from set-pieces after his team's 2-0 win against Manchester United. The Gunners scored both their goals in this match from corner situations.

Manchester United also conceded twice from corners in the same match against the north London club for the first since January 2014. Speaking to the press after the game's conclusion, Arteta said (via the club's official website):

"We need that. I think we want to be very dangerous and very effective from every angle and every face of play. We worked on all of that."
"Today we couldn't score from open play like we did against West Ham, against Sporting, so the team really has belief that from every angle we have the mentality to threaten the opponent and to try to score. Today was two set pieces, we constantly have threatening corners."

Arsenal's biggest threat from corners has been central defender Gabriel, who has netted four times this campaign. Even in his absence against the Red Devils, the Gunners managed to show their prowess in these situations.
