Chelsea are prepared to sanction the sales of two forwards to create space for the arrival of Atletico Madrid youngster Samu Omorodion this summer. The Blues are closing in on the signing of the Spain U-21 international as another option in attack for the new season.
Enzo Maresca's side are prepared to be involved in a transfer domino that would see 20-year-old striker Omorodion sign with them this summer. They are willing to pay up to £34.5 million for the youngster, who spent the 2023-24 season on loan at Alaves in LaLiga.
With Conor Gallagher and Julian Alvarez already having agreed to join Atletico Madrid, the transfer domino will be completed by Omorodion moving to Chelsea. In preparation for this, the Blues will look to part ways with Armando Broja and David Datro Fofana this summer, as per the Mirror.
Broja and Fofana both left the club on loan in 2023-24 but struggled to perform at a consistent level. The Albania international signed for Fulham in the second half of the season after struggling to find his feet under Mauricio Pochettino. Fofana joined Union Berlin from the start of the campaign but struggled to perform consistently before spending the second half of the season at Burnley.
New Chelsea boss Maresca opted to leave Fofana back home at Cobham as his squad jetted out for their pre-season tour of the USA. The former Leicester City coach went along with Broja, but the Albanian was completely left out against Real Madrid.
David Datro Fofana is attracting interest from England and elsewhere, with Leicester City and Stuttgart reportedly keen on him. Broja has long been a target for AC Milan, and several other sides are also interested in the 22-year-old. Chelsea are open to selling the duo permanently or sending them out on loan with an option to buy.
Chelsea midfielder closing in on LaLiga switch - Reports
Chelsea star Conor Gallagher is nearing a move to Atletico Madrid on a permanent basis after reaching an agreement with the Spanish giants, as per Fabrizio Romano. The England international turned down a two-year deal to remain at Stamford Bridge in favor of a move to Madrid.
Gallagher made 95 senior appearances for the Blues, having come through the club's academy as a youngster. The English midfielder is in the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge, and the club are unwilling to allow him leave for free next summer.
Atletico Madrid will pay a reported fee of €42 million to sign the 24-year-old midfielder, who will sign a five-year deal at the Wanda Metropolitano. He will reunite with former Blues captain Cesar Azpilicueta, who moved to Madrid last summer, as well.
