Chelsea star Moises Caicedo scores from the half-way line to give Blues the lead against Bournemouth

Moises Caicedo bagged his first goal for Chelsea in sensational fashion as he found the back of the net from the halfway line. The Ecuadorian scored in the 17th minute to hand the Blues a 1-0 lead over Bournemouth in the last game of the season.

Raheem Sterling was sent through on goal with a pass from Nicolas Jackson, which was intercepted by Cherries goalkeeper Neto. Under pressure from Conor Gallagher, his poor clearance fell straight to the 22-year-old Caicedo, who took a touch before firing the ball over the heads of the visitors' defenders into the top corner. It was a memorable moment for Caicedo, opening his tally with Chelsea in his 48th appearance for the club.

He completed a reported £115 million move from Brighton and Hove Albion in the summer. After a difficult start to the season, he has settled in extremely well at Stamford Bridge and has notched up several impressive performances for the side. His defensive presence in midfield has been instrumental as the Blues look to make it five straight wins in the Premier League to end their season.

Chelsea star sends message to dressing room ahead of departure from the club

Thiago Silva is set to leave Stamford Bridge.

Thiago Silva insisted that the Chelsea players need to do more to satisfy the club's fans. In an interview ahead of his last game for the club, the Brazilian claimed that some players needed to put their egos aside for the team's success.

In an interview with Sky Sports, he said:

‘Thiago knows what it means to wear a Chelsea shirt, you know,’ he told Sky Sports. ‘And if I have a message to send to the boys that are here today, I hope they understand that everything they did to get to Chelsea has to be worth it.

"Because the season we’re having is not worthy of Chelsea. It’s not. And I think they have to do more next year, they need to do more. If you look at the games, the fans never left the team, never. We were in ninth place, eighth, right? And the fans were always there."

"They booed us off a little at the end of the match, but they’re always there in the stands, always with 40,000, 45,000," he continued. "If we were somewhere else, they could throw rocks at us – we know that happens in our country.

"So these boys need to be aware that Chelsea has to fight for the top positions. If we take a little of our ego and put it in favor of the team, I think it will work. If we don’t do that, the situation will hardly change, unfortunately."

Chelsea confirmed earlier this month that the veteran center-back would be leaving Stamford Bridge with the expiry of his contract in the summer. He is set to move back to his childhood club Fluminense on a two-year deal.

He has had a memorable four-year stint with the Blues after leaving Paris Saint-Germain and signing on a free transfer. The 39-year-old played a key role in the side's win in the Champions League in 2020-21.
