Chelsea have commenced talks with Atletico Madrid over a deal to sign forward Joao Felix this month following the collapse of the Samu Omorodion deal. The Blue's are in negotiations with the Spanish outfit as well as the agent of the Portuguese star to find an agreement for a move.
Enzo Maresca's side reached an agreement to sell midfielder Conor Gallagher to Atletico Madrid, with young striker Samu Omorodion moving the other way. While the Gallagher deal is still on, the one for Omorodion has hit the rocks due to a reported injury which caused him to fail his medical.
Keen for the Gallagher deal to go through, Atletico Madrid have now offered the Blues an opportunity to sign another of their players in Joao Felix. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that the Blues are in talks with Jorge Mendes, Felix's agent, over the transfer.
Joao Felix spent the 2023-24 season on loan at Barcelona after being deemed surplus to requirements at the Wanda Metropolitano. Still only 24, he managed 10 goals and six assists in 44 appearances across all competitions, failing to earn a permanent move to the club.
Felix spent the second half of the 2022-23 season on loan at Chelsea, where he played under Graham Potter and Frank Lampard. The former Benfica man managed just four goals in 20 appearances for the Blues, resulting in Mauricio Pochettino turning down an opportunity to sign him permanently.
Atletico Madrid and Felix have made it clear that they intend to part ways this summer, and the forward had been linked with an Aston Villa move. With Chelsea now back in the picture, the Portugal international may well earn a permanent move to Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea target chooses to join Ligue 1 champions - Reports
Chelsea have lost out to Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the race to sign French winger Desire Doue this summer, as per Fabrizio Romano. The youngster has decided to remain in France and will join Les Parisiens from Rennes this month.
The France U-21 forward has been a target for the Blues this summer as they look to beef up their attack. Doue took his time before reaching a decision, having spent the summer representing France as they won silver at the Olympics in Paris.
Chelsea's sister club, Strasbourg, have already signed the youngster's older brother Guela, but the Blues have missed out on the younger Doue. Bayern Munich will also be left disappointed after they too failed to sign the French youngster.
