Arne Slot's Liverpool have been in fine form in the ongoing 2024-25 Premier League campaign, rolling over opponents with ease. Ahead of their clash with Nottingham Forest on Saturday, September 14, former player-turned-pundit Chris Sutton offered his thoughts on the game, singling out Mohamed Salah as the key player to score and help the Reds secure another win.
The Merseyside giants started their campaign with a 2-0 victory over newly-promoted Ipswich Town, before registering another near-perfect win against Brentford a week later. Arne Slot's first real challenge came when they crossed paths with arch-rivals Manchester United on the third matchday. Despite the anticipation surrounding the fixture, the Reds trounced Erik ten Hag's side 3-0 without breaking a sweat.
Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, Sutton lauded Slot's Liverpool and stated:
"They haven't conceded a goal yet and don't give away many chances, but they still look dangerous going forward. They absolutely tore Manchester United apart at Old Trafford."
Sutton acknowledged the threat posed by Nottingham Forest’s in-form striker Chris Wood but expressed doubt over their chances of scoring.
"Their plan will likely be to sit deep and try to keep Liverpool out, but I don’t think that will work," he added, backing Salah to find the net and predicting a 2-0 victory for Liverpool.
However, it's unlikely to be completely one-way traffic when Forest travel to Anfield on Saturday. The likes of Morgan Gibbs-White and Chris Wood are well capable of packing a punch and Slot's men will have to be wary.
Liverpool join transfer race for Bayern Munich star - Reports
Liverpool are reportedly showing growing interest in Bayern Munich’s prodigal midfielder Jamal Musiala, with the 21-year-old's situation also being closely monitored by Manchester City, Real Madrid, and Paris Saint-Germain.
While Bayern have publicly expressed their desire to extend Musiala’s contract, CaughtOffside report that the Reds are keeping a close watch as the Germany international approaches the final year of his current deal at the Allianz Arena.
Speaking to CaughtOffside, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claimed that Bayern were confident of retaining Musiala, though no agreement has been reached yet, leaving the door open for other top clubs to enter the fray.
The talented midfielder is considered one of Bayern’s brightest prospects, with the potential to become a club legend if he commits his future. However, Musiala’s ties to English football, having spent time in Chelsea’s academy and represented both England and Germany at youth level, could give Premier League clubs like Liverpool hope of securing his signature if contract talks stall.
