Ex-Chelsea and Blackburn Rovers striker Chris Sutton has asserted that Liverpool star Caoimhin Kelleher should join Scottish giants Celtic.
Kelleher, who joined the Reds' youth setup from Ringmahon Rangers in 2015, has cemented himself as a vital squad member at his team over the past few seasons. The 25-year-old helped the Reds lift the EFL Cup last term, featuring in 26 overall games in the process.
The 18-cap Republic of Ireland international has been in great form this campaign. He has made five appearances across competitions, starting his team's past three games, and registered two clean sheets.
During a chat on the It's All Kicking Off podcast, Sutton was queried which club the Liverpool shot-stopper should join in the near future. The one-time Premier League winner responded:
"I mean, he could move anywhere, couldn't he, really? He's the best back-up keeper, I think, I've ever seen in the Premier League."
When asked to name a potential destination, Sutton replied:
"Celtic. That won't happen in Celtic, but because of his Irish roots, Celtic."
Last month, Kelleher suggested that he is keen to leave Liverpool to emerge as a starting shot-stopper elsewhere. He could be sold next summer with Reds loanee Giorgi Mamardashvili set to return in 2025.
Arne Slot opines on Liverpool star's game time
Owing to Ryan Gravenberch and Curtis Jones' respective fine run of forms, Reds midfielder Wataru Endo has dropped down the pecking order this season. The 31-year-old has made just five appearances across all competitions under new head coach Arne Slot.
At a pre-match press conference, Slot was asked to share his thoughts on Endo's lack of game time so far this campaign. The 46-year-old Dutchman responded (h/t Liverpool Echo):
"[Keeping players happy with proper game time] is not always easy because they all want to play and it would be strange for me if they are all happy [when] they don't play. But they are professionals, they know these things can happen and they also see the players who play in their positions do really well. So, that is mostly with Wata but it is also with Joe Gomez and Jarell Quansah."
Endo, who left Bundesliga outfit VfB Stuttgart for around £16 million past summer, has registered two goals in 48 total matches for Liverpool.
The 65-cap Japan international is likely to start the Reds' EFL Cup last-16 game at Brighton & Hove Albion on Wednesday (October 30).
