Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca spoke about Raheem Sterling
Chelsea has over 40 players in its squad, and with the overload, the Premier League giants will be looking to eliminate some of them. The Blues have excluded a group of players from their first team. Some of them are Raheem Sterling, Ben Chilwell, Trevoh Chalobah, Armando Broja, Kepa Arrizabalaga and David Datro Fofana. This group has been training separately at Cobham.
Speaking about the situation of Sterling and the other stars training apart from the main squad, Enzo Maresca told reporters (via GOAL):
"We’re going to see. Because I prefer to be honest with the player, with Raheem, I’ve been exactly the same. The ones who are not involved, they are all players who are not going to be involved and they don’t get any minutes in case they stay. ... The only thing I can say is the ones who are going to get minutes are the ones who I think can help us."
"It’s not just Raheem. It’s all the players who at this moment are training apart. At the moment the transfer window closes, they are not going to get minutes. I’ve already been clear with them and honest and this is the only reason why."
Sterling has recorded 19 goals and 12 assists in 81 appearances across all competitions for the Blues. His current contract at Stamford Bridge is valid until June 30, 2027.
