Cristiano Ronaldo has become the highest goalscorer in a single season in Saudi Pro League history. The Portugal captain scored his 35th league goal of the season against Al-Ittihad.
After scoring a left-footed goal in the first half (45+3'), Ronaldo scored his second of the game from a header (69'). The 39-year-old was through on goal before being brought down. The resulting free-kick hit the wall and deflected for a corner, from which Ronaldo scored emphatically.
The goal marked his 35th of the season, one more than what Abderrazak Hamdallah scored for Al-Nassr in 2018-19. With this feat, Ronaldo adds another record to his endless acumen.
After winning the Golden Boot with Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus, Cristiano Ronaldo is now set to do the same with Al-Nassr. Al-Alami, meanwhile, have now scored 98 SPL goals this season and could join Al-Hilal in the century club.
Ronaldo has now scored 49 Saudi Pro League goals in 47 matches since joining Al-Nassr in 2023. This season, he has scored 50 goals for Al-Alami (including the Arab Cup of Champions).
Cristiano Ronaldo on fire ahead of Euro 2024
Cristiano Ronaldo has now scored 44 official goals in as many appearances this season. He scored 10 goals in provided two assists in nine UEFA Euro 2024 qualifiers.
Ronaldo heads into the Euros in Germany in stellar form. His goalscoring record should give Roberto Martinez a massive boost. After a disappointing 2022 FIFA World Cup, Ronaldo will have a point to prove in the Euros.
