British singer Amy Macdonald has explained how Cristiano Ronaldo's influence has played a major role in her topping the Spotify charts in Saudi Arabia.

Macdonalds' 2007 single "This Is The Life" has gone viral in the Middle East and Ronaldo has a bizarre role to play in it. Macdonald said that montage highlight videos of Ronaldo playing with her song as the background music has been the reason behind the popularity of the song. She said (via GOAL):

"I had started noticing I was getting a lot of comments in Arabic on social media. I was like, 'It looks lovely but I've got no idea what it says,' and there was just more and more of it."

Macdonald added:

"Somebody looked into it and there seems to be a lot of videos on social media using This Is The Life that are like Ronaldo playing football in Saudi Arabia. I said to one of my mates about it and they sent me a Photoshop of Jordan Henderson wearing an Amy Macdonald t-shirt."

Al-Nassr superstar Cristiano Ronaldo and Al-Ettifaq's summer signing Jordan Henderson are among the biggest names in the Saudi Pro League at the moment. Their influence lies beyond the pitch as they are helping Macdonalds' song from more than 15 years ago go viral.

Cristiano Ronaldo reacted to meeting with Prince Mohammed bin Salman

Cristiano Ronaldo recently met with Saudi Crown Prince, Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The reason for the meeting was to discuss the upcoming eSports World Cup set to take place in Saudi Arabia.

The event will take place next year and the panel had a meeting on the matter earlier today. Ronaldo penned a message after meeting the Prince as he wrote on social media:

"An honour to meet again with His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman and great to be part of this panel today discussing the future of esports and the launch of the first ever #esportsworldcup that will be held in Saudi Arabia next year!"

Since joining Al-Nassr, Ronaldo has become an ambassador for the country. Apart from being an on-field sensation, the 38-year-old could often be seen taking part in several promotional campaigns. He was even spotted wearing traditional Saudi attire on the country's national day.
