Al-Nassr superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has remained tight-lipped about a potential transfer to Manchester City amid the Premier League champions' poor run of form this season.

Ronaldo, 39, is considered to be one of the best players of all time due to his brilliant stints at Manchester United and Real Madrid. He returned to the Ruben Amorim-coached outfit in the summer of 2021 before securing a free switch to Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr in the middle of the 2022-23 season.

Prior to joining the Red Devils for his second spell, the five-time Ballon d'Or award winner was allegedly linked with Manchester City. When asked about their recent struggles, he replied at the 2024 Globe Soccer Awards (h/t TEAMtalk):

"Teams have moments. Difficult times, good times... City are passing through a difficult moment but I'm 100 per cent sure they will be back. I think the big teams, the big players, they are smart enough to understand what is the problem, where is the problem."

Ronaldo, who is a three-time Premier League champion, continued:

"I'm sure 100 percent they will be back. [Pep] Guardiola is a very smart coach. He knows where the problem is coming from. They will be there like always."

Asked if he could join Manchester City in the near future, he responded:

"You never know what is going to happen."

Manchester City, who have won the last four league titles, are on a shocking run of form right now. They have registered just two of their last 14 outings across all competitions, losing nine matches and conceding 28 goals in the process.

Pep Guardiola's team will next be in action in a Premier League encounter against West Ham United at Etihad Stadium next Saturday (January 4).

Cristiano Ronaldo hits out at Ligue 1's quality

Cristiano Ronaldo has again asserted that the Saudi Pro League is a harder domestic league than the Ligue 1. The 215-cap Portugal international opined at the 2024 Globe Soccer Awards (h/t GOAL):

"The Saudi Pro League is better than Ligue 1, of course. I'm not saying that because I play here. I don't care what people think about it. Players should come here and they will see quickly. Just try to do sprints at 38, 39, 40 degrees... Come and you will see. In France, they only have PSG, everyone else is finished."

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), who have 10 of the past 12 Ligue 1 titles, are atop the league table with 40 points from 16 matches, boasting a 10-point lead.

Ronaldo, meanwhile, will next be in action for Al-Nassr in a Saudi Pro League contest against Al-Okhdood at Al-Awwal Park on Thursday (January 9).
