According to a report by Jornal Da Madeira (via GOAL), Cristiano Ronaldo's uncle was rushed to the hospital after being involved in an accident on Wednesday, November 20. The incident occurred when Jorge Viveiros, his mother's brother, was hit by a car while riding his bike in Saint Helier, the capital of the island of Jersey.
Jorge was subsequently rushed to the hospital after being assisted by firefighters on the scene. After being put under observation, he was allowed to go home the same day. The Real Madrid legend will be relieved to hear that his relative escaped serious injury following the accident.
Cristiano Ronaldo shares a very close relationship with his mother, Dolores Aveiro, and often appears with her and other family members in his social media posts.
The Al-Nassr star will now return to preparing for his next match, a Saudi pro-league clash with Al-Qadsiah today (November 22). The Portuguese goal machine will hope to find the back of the net and add to his tally of 10 for the season from 15 games so far.
"I was warming up and looked over and I saw my mom and sisters sitting together on the bleachers" - When Cristiano Ronaldo shared a fond memory of his family
In 2017, Cristiano Ronaldo wrote an emotional entry in the Player's Tribune where he shared the importance of his family to him and his journey as a person. The Portuguese superstar grew up far from comfort in Madeira but found solace, encouragement, and comfort in his family.
Ronaldo enjoys a close relationship with his family and now has a young family of his own with his partner Georgina Rodriguez. The legendary forward detailed how the support and love he felt from his family encouraged him to grow into the man he is today.
In his entry, Ronaldo reminisced about his time in Madeira, writing:
"I will never forget this image — I was warming up and looked over and I saw my mom and sisters sitting together on the bleachers. They looked … how do I say this? They looked cozy. They were kind of huddled close together, and they were not clapping or yelling, they were just waving to me, like I was in a parade or something. They definitely looked like they had never been to a football match before. But they were there. That’s all I cared about."
He added:
"I felt so good in that moment. It meant a lot to me. It was like something switched inside of me. I was really proud. At that time, we didn’t have much money. Life was a struggle back then in Madeira. I was playing in whatever old boots my brother passed down to me or my cousins gave me. But when you’re a kid, you don’t care about money. You care about a certain feeling. And on that day, this feeling, it was very strong. I felt protected and loved. In Portuguese, we say menino querido da família."
Cristiano Ronaldo is a father to five children and often shares tender moments with them on Social media. The Portuguese superstar remains active on the pitch and is the leading scorer of all time with 910 goals.
