Al-Nassr captain Cristiano Ronaldo rewrote the Saudi Pro League record books with his assist in the 1-1 league draw at home with leaders Al-Hilal on Friday (May 17). Ronaldo and Co. trail the champions by 12 points with two games to go.
In a rousing start to the game at Mrsool Park, Ronaldo set up Otavio to open the scoring for Luis Castro's side. However, after squandering multiple opportunities to build on their lead, the hosts conceded an equaliser to Aleksandar Mitrovic from the spot in the 10th minute of stoppage time as the spoils were shared.
Although he didn't score in the game, Ronaldo notched up an assist, which took his goal contributions in the league this season to 44, which comprises 33 goals and 11 assists in 29 games.
In the process, he broke the previous record of goal contributions in a single Saudi Pro League season, as tweeted by the SPL (translated from Arabic):
"Cristiano Ronaldo is the player who has contributed the most goals in the history of Saudi Pro League in one season."
Ronaldo has also bagged nine other goals and two assists in 13 other games for a rich season haul of 42 goals and 13 assists in 42 games across competitions.
