Cristiano Ronaldo took time off his busy Euros schedule to spend time with his family, and he posted an image on his social media. The Portugal captain will lead his country out when they resume their Euro 2024 campaign with a match against Slovenia in the Round of 16 on July 1.
Roberto Martinez named five-time Ballon d'Or winner Ronaldo in the Portugal squad for the Euros, with the 39-year-old captaining his country. He has featured in all three of his country's matches in the tournament, assisting once in their win over Turkiye.
Cristiano Ronaldo is the only outfield player to have started all three group-stage matches for the Selecao. Their 2-0 defeat against Georgia in the final group match was the only game he did not finish. The Al-Nassr star has his family with him in Germany for support, and he shared a moment with his children on his Instagram page.
Ronaldo posted a picture of himself with two of his daughters Eva and Alana Martina, and his youngest son Mateo. All four were sporting Portugal shirts in the picture which appeared to have been taken in a garden of sorts.
Of Ronaldo's five children, only oldest son Cristiano Jr, and youngest daughter Bella were absent from the picture. The forward's partner Georgina Rodriguez was also absent from the post, which has generated over 3.5 million likes at the time of writing.
Veteran star expresses confidence in Cristiano Ronaldo to deliver for Portugal
Veteran defender Pepe has expressed his confidence that captain Cristiano Ronaldo will find his mojo in the knockout stages of Euro 2024. The Al-Nassr star failed to score in the group stage of a major international tournament for the first time in his illustrious career.
The two oldest players at the Euros, Ronaldo and Pepe have a great deal of history together, having played together at Real Madrid. The 41-year-old centre-back spoke at a press conference before the game against Slovenia on Monday. He declared his unwavering support for the forward, saying:
"Cristiano lives of goals, that's a fact. But have you seen his availability on the pitch to help the national team? It's incredible. He's the player with the most minutes in our team, at 39 years old.
"He's doing very well. He'll do very well in the final stages of the European Championship. I'm certain he will give us a lot of joy."
Cristiano Ronaldo has found the net a record 130 times since making his debut for Portugal and has a tournament-record 14 goals in the Euros. The veteran forward has yet to find his range in Germany and will look to do so in the knockouts.
