Darts champion Luke Littler urged Manchester United to bring their former goalkeeper David de Gea back to the club. Litter made this comment after the incumbent goalkeeper of the club, Andre Onana, made a howler against Victoria Plzen in United's Europa League encounter on Thursday, December 12.
The Cameroonian shot-stopper made a loose clearance from the box that landed straight at the feet of Pavel Sulc, who handed it over to former Burnley attacker Matej Vydra for the opening goal. However, a brace from Rasmus Hojlund, who came off the bench, ensured a 2-1 win for the Red Devils.
Premier League Darts champion Littler, however, has had enough of Onana after the latter made his second error in the space of days. He made a similar mistake on Saturday, December 7, at home against Nottingham Forest, allowing Morgan Gibbs-White to get on the scoresheet.
"Bring back Dave," Littler wrote in a now-deleted social media post.
De Gea left Manchester United as a free agent in 2023 and spent an entire season without a club. However, he made a move to Fiorentina this summer and has been phenomenal for them in goal, conceding just seven goals and saving two penalties in 12 matches in the Serie A.
Manchester United take on Manchester City this weekend
Manchester United are not going through the best of times in the Premier League, and take on their arch-rivals and cross-town opponents Manchester City on Sunday, December 15. The Red Devils, despite doing reasonably well in the Europa League (12 points in six matches), are 13th in the EPL table.
City, on the other hand, are not in a rich vein of form either, having lost midweek to Juventus 0-2 in the Champions League. They have also failed to win four of their last five EPL matches. When the two clubs last met before the Community Shield in August, in the FA Cup final in May, United ran away winners by a 2-1 scoreline.
