On-loan Manchester United midfielder Jadon Sancho has waxed lyrical of Chelsea attacker Tyrique George. The 18-year-old made his first start for the Blues against Noah in the UEFA Europa Conference League last week.
Having made his first-team senior debut in the Conference League play-off against Servette, George made his first start for the club in the 8-0 demolition of Armenian side Noah.
Six different Blues players were on the scoresheet, including Joao Felix and Christopher Nkunku, who bagged braces either side of the break. George told the club's website (as per SI.com) after his first start:
"I want to get more games with the men's team and am eager to contribute, whether that means getting an assist or scoring a goal.
"I just want to enjoy every chance I get because opportunities like this don’t come around often. If my younger self could see me now, he wouldn't believe how far I have come, and hopefully what’s to come!"
George had a picture with a 17-year-old Sancho, who wrote on X:
"We definitely recreating this picture. Tyrique has the world at his feet, top guy and such a humble human being. Deserves every bit of success coming his way! See you at training on Monday bro"
Sancho has three assists in six games across competitions for the Blues this season.
What's next for Chelsea?
Chelsea are in a good run of form under Enzo Maresca, with the Championship-winning Leicester City tactician arriving at Stamford Bridge this summer to replace Mauricio Pochettino.
They have performed especially well in the Premier League, where they are third after 11 games, ahead of fourth-placed Arsenal (19) on goal difference and nine behind leaders Liverpool.
Following the 8-0 hammering of Noah in the Conference League in midweek, the Blues drew 1-1 at home to Arsenal in the Premier League at the weekend. They return to action against Leicester City in the league at home on November 23.
The Blues have scored 21 goals in the league, a mark bettered only by Manchester City (22), who are in a four-game losing streak across competitions. That includes consecutive losses in the league, where they are seeking an unprecedented fifth straight title.
It's also the first time that their legendary manager Pep Guardiola has lost four straight matches. Meanwhile, Enzo Maresca's Blues will seek to return to winning ways against the Foxes next weekend.
