Cristiano Ronaldo's Al-Nassr were held to a draw

Cristiano Ronaldo failed to get on the scoresheet as Al-Nassr were held to a 1-1 draw by Al-Khaleej on Monday, May 8. Fans on Twitter reacted to the Saudi Pro League clash.

Fabio Martins scored the game's first goal for Al-Khaleej in the fourth minute. Alvaro Gonzalez restored parity for the home side with his strike in the 17th minute.

While Ronaldo found the back of the net in the second half, his effort was ruled out for offside.

The Portuguese forward came close to scoring again in the 80th minute. He managed to make space for himself in the box after a mazy run, but fired his effort agonizingly wide.

Despite their persistent efforts, Al-Nassr failed to find the back of the net. They dropped two points yet again and have 57 points from 26 matches. They trail league leaders Al-Ittihad, who have a game in hand, by two points.

Here are some of the best reactions from Twitter as Cristiano Ronaldo and Co. failed to beat Al-Khaleej:

Rivaldo recently questioned Cristiano Ronaldo's move to Al-Nassr

Brazilian legend Rivaldo recently questioned Cristiano Ronaldo's move to Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr. Ronaldo is earning a huge salary at the Saudi Pro League club. He is reportedly pocketing €177 million per year, inclusive of sponsorship deals.

However, Rivaldo questioned that whether the hefty pay cheque is worth it, as he might not be entirely satisfied in Saudi Arabia. Speaking to AS, the former Barcelona player said:

“I understand that sometimes players are fooled by the big contracts they sign in Saudi Arabia. But then life there is more closed and soccer is not always as easy as they expect. Maybe he’s going through a period of disappointment and even reflection. Is the money he’s being paid make up for the not-so-happy life he’s living right now?"

Rivaldo further claimed that he wants to see Ronaldo return to Real Madrid to finish his career. He said:

"This happens to every player and Messi himself will soon be able to experience that. It would be good for him and for football to see Cristiano Ronaldo return to Real Madrid to finish his career. Of course, the fans have to understand that they can’t demand the same from him as they did when he was 25 or 26 years old, but he can still help the club achieve more."

Ronaldo, though, is contracted with Al-Nassr until 2025. Despite the media speculation, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner seems committed to the Saudi Pro League club.
