Liverpool fans on X have blasted Trent Alexander-Arnold after he had a poor performance during their 2-2 draw against Manchester United. The Reds dropped two important points in their Premier League clash at Anfield on Sunday, January 5.
Lisandro Martinez gave Manchester United the lead in the 52nd minute after he rifled the ball into the roof of the net. However, Liverpool responded well seven minutes later when Cody Gakpo found the top-right corner with a brilliant shot.
The Red Devils conceded a penalty shortly after due to a handball inside the box by Matthijs de Ligt. Mohamed Salah coolly converted his spot-kick (70') to give Liverpool the lead. However, some poor defending by the hosts led to Amad Diallo grabbing the equalizer in the 80th minute with a tidy finish past Alisson Becker.
Alexander-Arnold struggled to deal with Diogo Dalot and was caught out of possession multiple times before being replaced by Conor Bradley in the 86th minute. The 26-year-old lost possession 25 times in total, with one leading to Manchester United's opener. He also completed zero crosses from an attempted six, made zero tackles, lost five duels, and was dribbled past twice.
One Liverpool fan wasn't impressed by Alexander-Arnold's performance as they posted:
"Maybe I’m overreacting but I don’t want Trent anywhere near our starting eleven until his contract situation is sorted. I’m disgusted by what I’ve seen tonight."
Another fan tweeted:
"Trent should be benched for Conor Bradley until his contract situation is resolved. Unacceptable performance."
Other fans reacted below:
"Trent the worst I’ve seen him," one fan commented
"Trent playing like he’s already gone," another added
"I know I often exaggerate on here, but given the circumstances, that Trent Alexander-Arnold performance was one of the worst I've seen from a Liverpool player. Ever," another admitted
"Trent Alexander Arnold playing like his heart is already in Real Madrid," one fan pointed out
"Alexander Arnold needs to be sold. His head is already in Madrid and I'd take the money now TBH. We are embarrassing ourselves by pleading with him to stay."

"He's going to Tranmere Rovers after this" - Manchester United legend Roy Keane on Trent Alexander-Arnold's performance following 2-2 draw against Liverpool
Manchester United icon Roy Keane didn't hold back after witnessing Trent Alexander-Arnold's first-half display during Liverpool's 2-2 draw against Ruben Amorim and Co. on Sunday. He brutally admitted that Alexander-Arnold had a higher chance of joining League Two outfit Tranmere Rovers over Real Madrid.
Keane told Sky Sports (via ESPN FC on X):
"There's talk about him going to Real Madrid, to me he's going to Tranmere Rovers after this."
Alexander-Arnold had a performance to forget against Manchester United, defensively switching off for both of their goals. However, to his credit, the 26-year-old has improved defensively under Arne Slot this season. He has also scored one goal and provided five assists in 24 appearances across competitions.
The Liverpool right-back's current deal at Anfield is set to expire at the end of the season. The Reds will be hoping to tie him down to a new deal with Real Madrid reportedly eager to sign him as a free agent over the summer.
