'The Boys' actor Antony Starr has reacted to a popular trend on social media comparing his character to legendary footballer Cristiano Ronaldo. The American actor's portrayal of supervillain, Homelander on the Amazon Prime show has garnered critical acclaim on and off social media.

The Portuguese legend has been pictured in poses eerily similar to those Starr took in his acclaimed role on the show. The social media was abuzz with comparisons after Portugal's win over Slovenia in the Euro 2024 Round of 16 on July 1.

The American commented on the meme on his Instagram story, writing:

"Don't really get this but I'm enjoying it. I feel seen"

Cristiano Ronaldo is a fitting player to be compared to the iconic supervillain, with the 39-year-old often seeming superhuman during his illustrious career. He has played for some of the biggest clubs in the world, turning out for Real Madrid, Manchester United, Juventus, and now Al-Nassr.

The Portuguese legend has played 1013 games at club level, scoring 759 and assisting 238 over his long career. He has also made 211 appearances for his nation and scored 130 goals, both being all-time records. Ronaldo has also claimed multiple accolades, winning the Ballon d'Or five times. He is also the most followed person on Instagram with over 633 million followers.

Where is Cristiano Ronaldo now?

Cristiano Ronaldo is in the twilight of his illustrious career but still features for his nation at the highest level. The legendary goalscorer is with Portugal in Germany at Euro 2024, hoping to lead his nation to glory in his last dance at the tournament.

While he has failed to find the net, he has played in every game for the Iberian nation at the tournament. He takes confidence in his abilities by continuing to get into goal-scoring opportunities and has provided an assist. Ronaldo will lead his nation out today (July 5) against France in their quarterfinal clash and hopes to secure victory again.

Cristiano Ronaldo was last victorious in the European championships in 2016 when Portugal bested France in the final in Paris to claim the trophy for the first time. The legendary striker will hope for a repeat of the omens that led him to glory in that match today.

He also has the chance to break records in the game, if he finds the back of the net in the game he will become the oldest player to ever do so. That will add to his record of six appearances in the competition.
