Manchester United fans on X have blasted Rasmus Hojlund for his performance in their 0-0 draw against Aston Villa. The two sides faced off in their Premier League clash at Villa Park on Sunday, October 6.
Ten Hag opted to deploy Hojlund into the starting XI for the first time in the league since the 21-year-old recovered from a hamstring injury. The Dane started up front alongside Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho.
Unfortunately for Manchester United, Hojlund could not offer much with and without the ball. During his 64 minutes on the pitch, he completed just five passes, had zero shots on goal, created zero chances, and lost four duels. In addition, he completed none of his attempted two dribbles and had just 15 touches in total.
One United fan was far from impressed with the Dane's showing, as they posted:
"Hojlund dribbles like he’s wearing Timberlands"
Another fan reckons the Red Devils downgraded by replacing Anthony Martial with Hojlund:
"How crap is Hojlund by the way? We downgraded massively from Martial"
Other fans also reacted below:
"Hojlund always looks like he's never in full control of the ball," one fan commented
"Hojlund didn't cover himself in glory when he was on either," another added
"The fact United is stuck with Hojlund for at least the next 5 season is insane, we will never be good again," another insisted
"Hojlund is a magician, the ball gets to him and then it disappears," one fan posted
"Hojlund technically is so horrible, he’s got one of the worst touches I’ve seen," one fan chimed in
"Hojlund for however much they paid for him doesn’t get spoken about enough," one fan posted
"He has come in and has done a good job" - Clinton Morrison hails Manchester United veteran for performance against Aston Villa
Former Crystal Palace forward Clinton Morrison has praised Jonny Evans for reading the game well during Manchester United's stalemate against Aston Villa. The 36-year-old centre-back made his first league start of the season, alongside Harry Maguire, after Ten Hag opted to bench Lisandro Martinez and Matthijs de Ligt.
Evans played well during his 90 minutes on the pitch, helping Manchester United keep a clean sheet. He won all four of his tackles, made three recoveries, and won 11 duels.
Morrison told BBC Sport (via @UnitedStandMUFC):
"Jonny Evans was brilliant. He got a few kicks in the first half and he did well. He might not have the pace, but what Evans does is he reads the game very well. He has come in and has done a good job - a good decision from Ten Hag."
Manchester United are 14th in the table with eight points from seven games, 10 points behind leaders Liverpool. They next face Brentford at home on Saturday, October 19.
