Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) manager Christophe Galtier recently spoke about the influence of Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Kylian Mbappe on the team. The Parisians have one of the best attacking trios in world football, with three superstar attackers in their ranks.
However, they have often been the subject of criticism, with many claiming that the team is compromised when all three are together on the pitch. Speaking about the attacking trio ahead of his team's Ligue 1 away clash against Auxerre on May 21, Galtier said (via RMC Sport):
"Regarding Messi, Mbappé and Neymar, as soon as I took office, it was an objective to be able to associate them together. Unfortunately, with the World Cup, injuries and fatigue, we were not able to take advantage of it throughout of the season (of the trio, editor's note)."
He added:
"Each time they have been on the pitch, PSG have performed very well. We had a very interesting attacking game. But it's part of a unique season".
All three superstars have produced numbers on the pitch this season as well. The Brazilian scored 18 goals and provided 17 assists in 29 matches before his season came to a premature end due to an ankle injury.
The Argentine, meanwhile, has bagged 20 goals and provided 19 assists in 38 matches so far this campaign.
The Frenchman has been the team's leading scorer this season. He has scored 38 goals and provided nine assists in 40 matches across competitions this season.
Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Kylian Mbappe's time as PSG teammates could be coming to an end
PSG fans might have already seen their superstar attacking trio in action together. Messi's contract runs out in the summer, and he has been linked with a move away from the club.
Neymar, on the other hand, has also been linked with a summer move. Premier League clubs like Chelsea and Newcastle United have been heavily linked with a potential transfer for the Brazilian superstar.
While Mbappe is expected to stay put, he could have completely new company in the attack next season. According to widespread reports, the likes of Victor Osimhen and Harry Kane are among the Parisians' targets.
